Enjoy Each Other — It’s Part of the Covenant

Anchor Scripture: Proverbs 5:18–19

” Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice with the wife of your youth… be exhilarated always with her love. “

Yesterday we established that sex belongs within the confines of marriage. However, it is unfortunate that some couples enter marriage and then neglect intimacy. God did not design marital intimacy to be endured; He designed it to be enjoyed. Proverbs 5:18–19 makes it clear that rejoicing and satisfaction in one another is part of God’s intention. A healthy bedroom contributes to a healthy home.

Many Christian couples suffer silently because they feel intimacy is “too spiritual” to discuss or “too worldly” to enjoy. But Scripture teaches mutual responsibility and pleasure (1 Corinthians 7:3–5). Intimacy is not merely physical activity—it is covenant bonding.

Recently, when a man asked us, “Is God really interested in our sex lives?” the answer is yes. God created it, defined it, and blessed it. He is honored when both husband and wife experience joy, safety, and satisfaction within marriage.

Couples must step out of emotional walls, unspoken fears, and misinformation. Communicate openly. Prioritize affection. Learn each other patiently. Remove shame from what God has called good (Genesis 1:31).

A pleasurable, loving, and mutually fulfilling intimacy strengthens trust, reduces temptation, and deepens unity. Enjoying each other is not carnality—it is covenant.
