The Power of Honest Communication

Anchor Scripture: Ephesians 4:26–27

” Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil. “

Always communicate your feelings with your spouse to resolve issues instead of keeping them bottled up. The Bible teaches in Epistle to the Ephesians 4:26–27, “Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry.” Unexpressed feelings can grow into resentment, but open and honest communication brings healing and understanding. God desires that couples address issues with love, truth, and humility.

Healthy communication requires both speaking and listening with grace. Epistle of James 1:19 reminds us to be “quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry.” When spouses create a safe space to share their hearts, it strengthens trust and deepens emotional intimacy. Expressing feelings respectfully allows both partners to feel valued and understood.

A marriage that thrives is one where love is actively expressed, not hidden. Book of Proverbs 15:1 says, “A gentle answer turns away wrath.” Choosing kind words, even in difficult moments, can diffuse tension and promote peace. When couples communicate openly and lovingly, they build a strong, united relationship that reflects God’s design for marriage.
