Courtship is a season of discernment, not emotional intoxication. Many young people become so emotionally attached that they ignore clear warning signs, compromise their convictions, and make decisions based on feelings rather than God’s leading. Emotions are a gift from God, but they become dangerous when they are allowed to lead instead of the Holy Spirit. A heart ruled by unchecked emotions can mistake infatuation for love and emotional excitement for divine confirmation.
Emotional indulgence often clouds sound judgment. It weakens spiritual sensitivity, encourages unhealthy soul ties, and can open the door to sexual compromise, manipulation, and avoidable heartbreak. Never allow affection to silence wisdom or permit love to make you ignore character. A godly courtship should strengthen your walk with Christ, preserve your purity, and prepare you for a covenant, not pressure you into compromising your values. Guard your heart, submit your emotions to God’s Word, and allow time to reveal true character before making lifelong decisions.
