LIGHT OVER DARKNESS

Anchor Scripture: Genesis 1:3-4

” Then God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. “

The first recorded expression of God’s power in creation was the command, “Let there be light.” Before light appeared, darkness covered the earth, but darkness could not resist the entrance of light. It did not struggle or negotiate; it simply disappeared. This reveals a powerful spiritual truth: wherever God’s light is present, darkness loses its influence. Light brings clarity, direction, hope, and life, while darkness represents confusion, fear, ignorance, and despair. Every family that welcomes God’s light experiences His peace and order.

Jesus Christ declared Himself to be the Light of the world, and through Him, every believer has become a bearer of that same light. He said, “You are the light of the world,” and instructed us not to hide our light but to let it shine before others (Matthew 5:14-16). As children of God, we are called to reflect His character through our words, actions, love, forgiveness, and integrity. Our homes should be places where Christ’s light is visible, influencing everyone within and around us.

Light is essential for navigating every aspect of life, including our families and relationships. Many homes today are filled with conflict, bitterness, confusion, and emotional distress because God’s light has been ignored or replaced by darkness. As believers, we must never lose our identity, especially when we enter relationships or build families. Do not allow the pressures of life or the influence of others to dim the light God has placed within you. Instead, continue to shine brightly through godly living, knowing that your light has the power to transform lives, restore hope, and glorify God.

Daily Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for calling me out of darkness into Your marvelous light. I declare that Your light will continually shine in my life, my family, and every relationship You have entrusted to me. Every form of darkness, confusion, fear, conflict, and distress is driven away by the light of Christ. Help me never to hide or compromise my identity as the light of the world. May my life reflect Your love, truth, and righteousness, bringing hope, peace, and transformation wherever I go. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
