Sexual urges are a normal part of human nature, but true strength lies in the ability to control your mind. While desires themselves are not sinful, allowing them to dominate our thoughts and actions can lead us away from God’s purpose. Self-control is a fruit of the Spirit and a mark of spiritual maturity. God calls us not merely to manage our actions but also to guard our thoughts, for our thoughts often shape our decisions and behaviors (Galatians 5:22-23).
The battle for purity and discipline is often won or lost in the mind. When inappropriate thoughts arise, believers are encouraged to bring every thought into obedience to Christ and focus on things that are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, and praiseworthy (2 Corinthians 10:5; Philippians 4:8). Through prayer, God’s Word, and the help of the Holy Spirit, we can develop the strength to resist temptation and maintain a healthy, disciplined mind.
Today, choose to surrender your thoughts to God. Do not allow temporary desires to control your destiny. As you cultivate a sound mind and practice self-control, you will grow in spiritual strength, wisdom, and victory over every form of temptation.
