God designed marriage to be a partnership of mutual support, not a competition for superiority. Husband and wife are called to encourage, strengthen, and help one another through every season of life. There will be moments when one partner feels weak, discouraged, or overwhelmed, and in those moments, the other should become a source of comfort, strength, and hope. Rather than criticizing or abandoning one another during difficult times, couples should reflect Christ’s love by bearing each other’s burdens with patience and compassion (Galatians 6:2).
The relationship between Priscilla and Aquila beautifully illustrates this principle. They served God side by side, opened their home for ministry, and even helped disciple Apollos together, demonstrating unity and mutual support in both their marriage and their service to the Lord (Acts 18:24–26; Romans 16:3–5). Their lives remind us that marriage flourishes when both husband and wife work together to fulfill God’s purpose. Each partner brings unique strengths, and when those strengths are used to build one another up, the marriage becomes stronger and more fruitful.
Make it your daily commitment to be your spouse’s greatest encourager. Celebrate each other’s victories, stand together during trials, and pray for one another without ceasing. As you choose to lift each other instead of pulling each other down, your marriage will reflect God’s design for unity, love, and partnership. A home where husband and wife strengthen one another becomes a testimony of God’s grace and a blessing to generations to come (Romans 12:10; Colossians 3:12–14).
