Marriage is God’s divine design for two people to become one in love, purpose, and destiny. It is not a relationship built on competition, manipulation, or tearing one another down, but a covenant in which husband and wife encourage, strengthen, and complement each other. God joins a couple together so they can fulfill His purpose, glorify His name, and become a blessing to their family, the Church, and the world. When Christ is at the center of a marriage, unity replaces division, and love overcomes selfishness (Ecclesiastes 4:9–12).
The lives of Priscilla and Aquila beautifully illustrate God’s purpose for marriage. They worked together, served together, and used their home to advance God’s kingdom. They also instructed Apollos more accurately in the way of the Lord, showing that their marriage was a partnership in ministry and service (Acts 18:24–26; Romans 16:3–5). Rather than competing for recognition, they supported one another in fulfilling God’s calling. Their example reminds us that a Christ-centered marriage becomes stronger when both husband and wife pursue God’s purpose together.
Examine your marriage and ask whether your words and actions are building your spouse up or pulling them down. Choose to encourage rather than criticize, support rather than compete, and forgive rather than condemn. As you intentionally work together under God’s leadership, your marriage will become a powerful testimony of His love and grace. A united couple can accomplish far more for God’s kingdom than either could achieve alone (Ephesians 4:29; Colossians 3:12–14).
