Any Relationship That Pulls You Away from God Is Dangerous—Don’t Invest in It; Run

Anchor Scripture: 1 Corinthians 15:33

” Do not be deceived: ‘Evil company corrupts good habits. “

Not every relationship is safe for your soul. Some people may seem attractive, exciting, or even familiar, but if they consistently pull your heart away from God, they are leading you in the wrong direction. Proverbs 13:20 says, “He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed.” The company you keep can strengthen your faith or slowly weaken it. If a relationship makes prayer feel distant, obedience feel optional, and holiness feel unnecessary, it is dangerous.

God never asks you to cling to what is damaging your walk with Him. 2 Corinthians 6:14 warns, “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers.” This is not only about marriage; it is a principle for every close bond that shapes your life. Any relationship that keeps you from God’s presence, compromises your convictions, or feeds sin is not worth your spiritual peace. Run from what corrupts your devotion, because no relationship is worth losing your closeness to the Lord.

Choose relationships that draw you nearer to Christ, not farther away. Psalm 1:1 says, “Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly.” Ask God for discernment to recognize what is healthy and what is harmful. When you honor Him first, He will guide you into relationships that strengthen your faith instead of stealing it.

Daily Prayer:

Lord, give me discernment to recognize every relationship that is pulling me away from You. Give me the courage to walk away from anything that weakens my faith and compromises my obedience. Surround me with people who love You, honor Your Word, and help me grow closer to You. Amen.
