God’s design for marriage is built on mutual love, respect, and submission to His authority. A husband who first submits himself to God is better equipped to lead his family with humility, wisdom, and compassion. His leadership is not marked by pride, control, or intimidation, but by the sacrificial love of Christ. When a man follows God’s direction, he creates an atmosphere where his wife can trust his leadership with confidence, knowing that his decisions are guided by God’s Word rather than selfish ambition (Colossians 3:19; James 3:17).
Jesus is the perfect model of servant leadership. Though He is Lord of all, He humbled Himself and lived in complete obedience to the Father’s will (Philippians 2:5–8). In the same way, God calls husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the Church, giving themselves sacrificially for their well-being (Ephesians 5:25). Such Christlike leadership nurtures security, strengthens trust, and encourages willing cooperation within the marriage. As both husband and wife submit to God’s authority, their home becomes a place of peace, unity, and spiritual growth.
Whether you are a husband or a wife, your first commitment must be to God. Husbands should seek to lead by example through prayer, integrity, and humility, while wives should encourage and support godly leadership with love and respect. When Christ remains at the center of the marriage, both spouses grow together in grace, fulfilling God’s purpose for their home and becoming a testimony of His love to the world (Joshua 24:15; Psalm 128:1–4).
