Make Jesus Your Standard

Anchor Scripture: Hebrews 12:2

” Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith… “

It is easy to compare your life or marriage to others, especially to those who seem respected or successful. Yet, basing your expectations on human examples can lead to disappointment, discouragement, or even wrong decisions. Every relationship is unique, and the outcome of someone else’s marriage, whether failure or success, does not dictate yours. God calls you to look beyond human standards and place Christ at the center of your relationship, allowing Him to guide, shape, and define it.

Scripture reminds us to follow God’s ways rather than the patterns of the world. “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2). By making Jesus your standard, you focus on His character, wisdom, and love as the measure for your decisions and actions. His Word becomes the foundation for resolving conflicts, expressing love, and leading your family, rather than relying on the experiences or opinions of others.

When Jesus is the standard, couples can navigate challenges with faith, patience, and humility. They learn to forgive, serve, and honor one another as Christ models for us. By anchoring your relationship in Him, you build a home that reflects His love, withstands trials, and thrives according to His purpose. Let your eyes stay fixed on Jesus, and your marriage will follow His perfect design.
